Benchtops are one the most important part of the kitchen where you prepare all foods. Choose a benchtop that will add suitable and practical functions to your kitchen as well as make food preparation in the kitchen an easier task. There are many types of benchtops to choose from and the task of choosing one can be sometimes overwhelming.

The various types of benchtops are Laminate, Granite, Quartz and Ceasar Stone. Custom benchtops allow you to build according to your specific requirements to aid in creating the perfect look that will compliment the design and make of the kitchen.

Laminated Benchtops

Pros: A laminated benchtop is proven cost effective. Laminated is the most practical and most preferred choice.  It is usually sold by the meter and can be cut and installed to fit the kitchen. Also, it can be installed quickly compared to other benchtops. It is easy to clean, lightweight and highly resistant from stains and scratches.

Cons: It is not durable and has an estimated life span of ten years at the most. It is also vulnerable to cuts and heats meaning you can’t place any hot pot or pan directly on it. If it gets chipped or cracked it cannot be repaired.

Ready Made Benchtops

Pros: Whether it is made from Quartz or Ceasar Stone, it is considered the practical choice when it comes to durability and longer life span. The heavy duty material is a sure guarantee that it is heat resistant, easy to clean and maintain and can be repaired easily if there are accidental cracks and chips.

Cons: Because of the durable material it is very costly and usually takes time to order and ship the needed material to build one.
