How To Design The Perfect Media Room

We use media rooms for media items such as televisions, sound systems and maybe even computers and gaming consoles.

The media room is where one can retreat to relax and catch up on a movie, a favourite show, or play that new video game they can’t seem to master. It’s all about enjoying the space whether you’re sitting back alone or with friends and family.

Let’s start with the television, since it’s probably the star of the room. You can save space in the room and get a more modern look by mounting it on the wall, but you could also get a classy looking wall unit to show it off. It probably goes without saying that it should be a flat screen and a good size so everyone in the room can enjoy the view!

The sound system should be effective without overpowering the room or causing vibrations. You want amazing sound to complement what’s on the screen, but you don’t want to burst your ear drums! Consider a surround sound system for a panoramic sound experience that will pull you into the action.

As far as furniture is concerned, a nice long couch is great for bigger groups, and a few extra comfortable chairs that match don’t hurt either. End tables are great for setting down your beverages and food.

You could even add a bar to the room! Build it around the television and add bar stools for a “pub experience” or put it into a corner of the room for easy access. You could even add a bar fridge and a small microwave to avoid trips to the kitchen during commercials.

For lighting, track lights and pot lights are popular for good, even lighting of the room that’s low maintenance.

There are so many possibilities when it comes to designing a media room that’s functional and fashionable to share entertainment in.
